Substitute and/or delete specific data and any DJDE or PDL commands within your “print” jobs without changing them at source.

Changing and/or deleting DJDE or PDL commands, unwanted characters or out of date information within your "print" jobs at source can be time consuming and difficult. Furthermore, software designed to carry out these tasks is often restrictive, allowing you to only change and/or delete a pre-defined and limited number of DJDE or PDL commands.

To resolve this, FunAsset can provide you with a software solution called StreamEdit that can be seamlessly integrated within your existing system to provide you with on-the-fly manipulation and conditioning of any data and command within a “print” job.

How StreamEdit Works

StreamEdit is an Input Extra Processing module that is combined within a FunAsset TN Interface Task application suitable for the connectivity and data processing requirements of the system where StreamEdit will be used. The Task can be installed on a FunAsset TN Interface PC chassis or on a standard PC with suitable connectivity and integrated anywhere between the data source and destination.

“Print” jobs pass through the Task and are analysed by the StreamEdit module for specific user defined strings. When a string is located, one or more of the following actions are performed:

• Substitute the located string with another string.
• Delete the located string.
• Delete unwanted characters, strings or an entire line.
• Delete trailing characters on the same line as the located string.

Examples of Use

StreamEdit can be used for any one of the following procedures:

• Substitute and/or delete DJDE commands without changing the data at source - useful when outputting legacy LCDS jobs to Xerox EPS printers that require embedded DJDE command syntax to be cleaned up.
• Substitute and/or delete PDL commands without changing the data at source - useful for changing the appearance of particular pages within a job.
• Substitute and/or delete unwanted characters, strings or entire lines without changing the data at source – useful when outputting jobs that contain out of date information such as telephone numbers or currency symbols.
• Delete unwanted trailing characters on a line – useful when additional CR, LF or FF commands need to be removed.

Cost

The cost of the StreamEdit module is £900 + VAT.

NOTE: StreamEdit must be combined within a FunAsset Task application. The cost and type of Task is dependant upon the connectivity requirements of where StreamEdit will be used.
