ICL Band Printer Connectivity
For FP1500, FP2000, LineWriter 400,
LineWriter 800, LP2000

Simultaneously connect your ICL band printer to a TCP/IP server and an OSLAN connected mainframe.

Even today, despite the explosion in digital print technology, ICL band printers such as the FP1500, FP2000, LineWriter 400, LineWriter 800 and LP2000, are still widely used throughout the world by organisations involved in production printing.

Not only are band printers fast, reliable and inexpensive to operate and maintain but they are one of the only forms of printer that is capable of outputting successfully to NCR paper - vital for printing certain security documents such as payslips, cheques and pin number notifications.

Despite the significant advantages of ICL band printers like the FP1500, FP2000, LineWriter 400, LineWriter 800 and LP2000, many organisations are often unable to continue using them after they have migrated from an OSLAN based VME mainframe to a TCP/IP UNIX or Windows server. Other organisations are often reluctant to undertake the OSLAN to TCP/IP migration in fear of being unable to use their ICL band printers.

Connecting an ICL Band Printer to TCP/IP

To resolve the problem of being unable to connect a TCP/IP UNIX or Windows server to an ICL band printer, FunAsset are able to provide you with a simple and inexpensive hardware and software solution known as an OsNet LP Interface.

Dual OSLAN and TCP/IP connectivity

UNIX and Windows servers and VME mainframe
simultaneously connected to an ICL band printer
using FunAsset's OsNet LP Interface

FunAsset's OsNet LP Interface consists of a small PC base unit that contains connectivity hardware and software to enable dual TCP/IP and OSLAN connectivity for ICL band printers. As a result, an ICL band printer such as an FP1500, FP2000, LineWriter 400, LineWriter 800 or LP2000 can be simultaneously connected to a traditional VME mainframe as well as a UNIX or Windows server without any changes having to be made to the source or data.

NOTE: FunAsset's standard OsNet LP Interface is a TN3000 PC Chassis with dual OSLAN and TCP/IP input, and parallel (Dataproducts) output connectivity TN Interface hardware and software (TN3820F).

Whether you want to migrate from OSLAN to TCP/IP, take advantage of dual connectivity, or simply bring your band printers out of "retirement", our OsNet LP Interface is the most cost effective solution available.
